Richard E. Bangert Business Award

This scholarship is funded by First Interstate Bank, family, friends, and estate of Richard E. Bangert (1920 – 2012.) Mr. Bangert served on the Board of ICW from the 1960’s through 2012, several of those years as chairman. He received a Bachelor’s of Science in economics from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce and then attended the Pacific Coast Banking School. He received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Gonzaga University. During his banking and finance career he worked for a number of Seattle institutions. He was President, CEO, and Chairman of Pacific National Bank, and in 1985 he retired as chairman of First Interstate Bank of Washington. Applicants must be a junior or senior at an ICW college in Fall 2025 and majoring in business or a business-related field. Demonstrated financial need is required. Not automatically renewable.
